100% PURE OL'SKOOL HIP HOP LIVE MIX BY CAMILLE & KONTROL TAGGIN IT UP AT KRUSH GROOVE NIGHTS IN ATL!! ENJOY!

I seriously have to say that this mix right here is one of my new favorites. Ya know, one of those mixes from time to time you just relisten to over and over. Being a NY native, ol skool hip hop is in my blood. To quote diggity Das Efx, this is "THE REAL HIP HOP".... and its great to have djs like Camille and Kontrol bringing us back once in a while to the roots of hip hop music...where it all began. Theres one thing I think about when I hear this mix, and thats the "5 Elements of Hip Hop Music" props to legendary Afrika Bambaataa....1. MCING 2. BREAKDANCING 3. GRAFITI 4. BEATBOXIN and last but definitly not least 5. DJING. All these elements right here played a very significant roll in my life growing up in ny, hence the reason I came up with the name "Dj Elementz" It was the first thing that popped in my head, when trying to come up with a dj name. I looked on my floor and there were tons of BBoy Battle Videos on my floor. I reminiced on taggin bridges with my buddy Josh Fuller, Scribbling on little pieces of paper lyrics and battling with buddies. And even though I never beatboxed, I forever back up the fact that beatboxing is one of the most important elements. Without a dj you have no beat, right?? so props to all the beatboxers out there...Doug E Fresh, Biz Markie, Rahzel!!!But seriously, if you wanna be taken into the greatest ol'skool hip hop time warp of your life...check it out! 2 hours of straight ol'skool hip hop mixed live on Krush Groove nights in beautiful ATL. Dont forget to check out my boy Kontrol at link posted below the mix.

New Series: Master of the Mix Searches for the Ultimate DJ

We have top chef, top model and even the top hairdresser, but next month Centric and BET is adding top DJ to the mix with a new series called Master of the Mix.

Each week, DJ's will compete for the title and a cool $250,000 in cash from series sponsor Smirnoff. The show begins on November 3 with a party at a luxury home in the Hollywood Hills, then they head out to The People's Challenge, a vodka tasting event in Las Vegas and on to Miami, Los Angeles, New York and London over the course of eight episodes.

The DJ's will be judged on their technical ability, track selection, originality, and crowd response. Kid Capri and famed record producer Quincy Jones will do the judging along with a weekly special guest including music biz veteran Biz Markie.

The fact that the show is being sponsored by a liquor company is a little out of the ordinary. But David Tapscoot, brand director for Smirnoff says it's a natura.,

"Smirnoff has always been a part of the nightlife culture, encouraging responsible partying for years and since we're working with some of the most influential DJs who control the night, the partnership between the two spaces feels natural to us."

The trouble is, alcohol and reality shows usually go together in a very unpleasant way. Shows like Jersey Shore and Rock of Love make a point of showing drunken contestants getting into fights, having sloppy sexual encounters, and a few more disgusting behaviors that have become commonplace on TV.

It's unlikely that Smirnoff wants to see its product associated with such behaviors. They're going to want to present a show where drinking vodka is trendy and classy. Can they make it work? We'll soon find out.

In a galaxy not so far away - only 25 million light-years - astronomers have found what looks like are the remnants of strange celestial explosions called hypernovae. "Hypernovae are possibly the most powerful explosions in our Universe since the Big Bang. Such explosions are more powerful than supernovae, the spectacular death gasps of stars some 5-10 times more massive than our Sun. In fact, hypernovae may produce some 100 times more energy than supernovae. But what are these explosions and what causes them? Astronomers are not sure at this point. It is hoped that the discovery of these two suspected hypernova remnants, called MF83 and NGC5471B, located in the nearby spiral galaxy M101 will allow astrophysicists to infer their true nature.

Come Prepared to this years holloween to experience a true space age atmosphere, with visuals, lazers, lights and decorations that will not only captivate your imagination, but open your mind to new light.

Dj Icey **Cd release for "What you feel"**

(Breaks)

12am-130am

Zone Records, Tree Records, Automatic Static radio, Pam artist managment

www.djicey.com / www.myspace.com/djicey - Florida

Born and raised in Florida, DJ Icey has been mesmerized by electronic music ever since hearing the synthesizer breakdown on The Edgar Winter Groups "Frankenstein". "My mom had that album and I would play that middle part over and over wondering how they made that sound, Icey recounts. I was little and thought it was so cool".

Rising to worldwide prominence out of the fertile Orlando Florida electronic music scene which has spawned the likes of AK 1200,Kimball Collins, Jimmy Van M, Chris Fortier, and Baby Anne, Icey cut his teeth at the legendary EDGE nightclub in the mid-90s, and even persuaded The Chemical Brothers to play their first show Stateside there. When The Edge closed in 1996, DJ Icey hit the road and has stayed on it since.

Icey runs two Indie labels dedicated to the Breaks he loves, the Main imprint Zone Records released it's first 12 Inch single in 1994, Energy Tracks Volume 1 quickly followed by the hard to find Encyclopedia Funktanica both of these records gained a cult following worldwide as there was nothing quite like it at the time. Zone Records continues releasing more than a dozen records a year and his second label Tree Records follows very closely behind with slightly more eccentric productions. Discovered for the punters by BBC Radio 1 DJ and longtime A&R kingpin Pete Tong, Icey became the first American producer to sign to his U.S. ffrr label in 1997 as an artist thanks to Pete and U.S. Honcho Neil Harris, He was the first American DJ to be selected to record a prestigious "Essential Mix" for U.S. Release. With over 200 12 singles under his production belt and 5 cd releases, Icey has SoundScanned over 300,000 CD units in North America alone.

Playing 100+ gigs per year, Icey is a touring maniac. But that doesnt keep him out of the studio during the week working on new tracks for his Indie Labels Zone and Tree records, constantly trying to push the envelope to make his fans sweat on the dancefloor. The new material is then cut on dub plates and tested out on weekend gigs: There is nothing better than finishing a tune and seeing the reaction from a crowded dancefloor right after finishing it," he beams. 2003 saw DJ Icey release "Different Day", a new album of all original material. Different Day, Iceys second full-length artist album to date, embraces futuristic breakbeat interwoven with house sensibilities, while keeping the energy level peaking throughout. 2004 saw the release of his new Mix CD For the Love of the Beat, Icey creates a seamless hour plus long mix encompassing the many faces of the Worldwide Breakbeat scene. New CD Projects are on the Horizon for late 2005 and 12" Vinyl Singles on the Tree and Zone Records Imprints will be released monthly.

At Large Entertainment, Propa Talent
http://www.djrap.com/ - Los Angeles, Ca

Over her 15-year career, DJ Rap has moved effortlessly between genres, staking her claim on various styles within the electronic spectrum, while simultaneously pushing the limits of rock and pop. The First Lady of Drum #699;n#700; Bass and the undisputed Queen of the Turntables, her music has infiltrated club systems and car stereos worldwide, and her numerous forays into video game and motion picture soundtracks have solidified her pedigree as one dance music#700;s most successful and prolific artists.

With three studio albums, 75 mix compilations and over 2,000,000 in cumulative worldwide sales to her name, what makes you think she#700;d stop now?

In May 2010, DJ Rap will release Synthesis (Ministry of Sound), a brand new studio album that weaves together a full compliment of synthetic textures and organic moods, and paints a lucid picture of her journey as a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Powerful, melodic and immaculately produced, Synthesis is a return to the hybridization of styles she brought forward on Learning Curve (Sony), her 1999 debut that had magazines like Rolling Stone and Ray Gun heralding her arrival into the mainstream. The album#700;s first single, “Give It All Away,” will be released November 2009.

http://www.myspace.com/nc17audio - Toronto

NC-17 is a Drum & Bass duo of talented artists based in Toronto, Canada consisting of Peter & Shawn. Their namesake refers to the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) rating system which undertakes that an NC-17 rating film would be one based around violence, sex, aberrational behaviour, drug abuse or any other element that most parents would consider too intense for viewing by their children. The groups love of movies is reflected not only in their name, but equally in their music, combining both NC-17 rating style hardness and a cinematic edge that any fan of Drum & Bass will understand. Crafting music that works not only in an artistic capacity, but also as a catalyst to making clubbers shake their collective booties!

Originally starting out with Peter in 2004, NC-17 became a two man operation in 2007 when Korosiv joined the ranks to form one of the most promising acts in the Toronto scene. Aware of their local scenes competitive nature and understanding that Toronto D&B fans are generally more enamoured with the harder and darker side of the genre, NC-17 chose deliberately to spearhead a rough and ready sound that would win them acclaim from their peers. Initially learning their craft from Impulse of Corrupt Souls fame, the boys began to draw on a huge range of musical and audio-visual influences to create their own unique sound.

Working together as a unit, NC-17 is held together by an obviously close friendship and individual roles within the group. Peter is the eldest of the group and comes from a musical family (his mother was a singer in Turkey during her early 20s). He houses the main NC-17 studio and is an experienced DJ, promoter, producer and University educated film maker. Shawn, a professional drummer and the son of a sound engineer who toured with the likes of Pink Floyd is originally from Ohio. As soon as the two got into the studio together they knew they had something special to offer and Canadas most promising Drum & Bass production outfit was born.

Signing their first two hard hitting tracks to Sinuous Recordings in 2004, theres now no stopping this duo who have lined up releases on DSCI4, MAC II, Circle, Sudden Def and just recently signing a single to Andy C Ram Sister label Frequency.

NEW KIDD STAR & THE E-HOP BRIGADE ALBUM...WHAT DO YOU GET WHEN YOU MIX ELECTRONIC MUSIC AND HIP HOP?? TAKE A LISTEN AND FIND OUT FOR YOURSELF!!!!!

As a working Dj I get new cds, mixes, and singles handed to me all the god damn time. To be honest with you, if it doesnt catch my interest in the first five minutes of flipping through tracks, then it goes right in the garbage! There are very few that catch my interest. Its gotta make me move....its gotta make my head nod...its gotta make me wanna turn it up to the FUCKING max while im cruising down the highway!! Ill tell you what, I popped this mix in my car and didnt even need to skip tracks. The whole mix went right through three times. If i had to give this new album a rating from 1-10 it would be a 9 lacking 1 point for not being longer because I just wanted more!!!! Its like a good movie that eventually comes to an ending. Tracks were all dope, and there are skits throughout the mix that add a little humor to the album, as well as documentation by Kidd Star, the brigade, and the b-boys speaking on the inspiration of the album. I support this album 100% and recommend it to anybody infactuated with uptempo rhythms and hard knocking bass with that b-boy touch. My personal favs on this album are tracks 2,3,5,8,11, and 13. ALBUM COMING OUT SOON IN A STORE NEAR YOU!!! DJELEMENTZMUSIK.COM GIVES YOU A LIL SNEAK PEAK!!!!

DJ Milkdud on his passion for electronic music and its growing presence on the Capital Region scene

The sound of “a thousand monkeys hitting a thousand drums” is how Greg Mankes, aka DJ Milkdud, describes “jungle,” the kinetic style of music that he spins at various electronic-music nights in the Capital Region.

As Mankes explains it, the music first known as jungle—which now falls under the banner heading of “drum & bass”—emerged from the British rave scene back in the early to mid-’90s. “It was chaotic-sounding music at high speeds,” he says, music characterized by smooth bass lines, loads of samples and break-beat percussion at rapid speeds of 160 to 170 beats per minute, underlain at the time by a reggae and dub influence.

Like many forms of electronic dance music, jungle was more accepted in the United Kingdom from the start, receiving radio play on BBC stations and blowing up big in London clubs. In the United States, however, the sound was found deeper underground. That didn’t stop Mankes, a Guilderland native, from tapping into the burgeoning music while studying far from the scene’s center at Buffalo State College in 1996.
As opposed to music made for sedate headphone or bedroom listening, jungle and drum & bass were designed for an altogether different milieu: clubs with dance floors. So unless you have venues where you can hear the music in the environment it was intended for, it’s hard to grasp the full impact of the sound. “It’s visceral music,” Mankes explains. “It hits people at more of a primal level.”

With some 2,000 records at his disposal, stacked neatly into a wall of vinyl at the Round Lake apartment he shares with fiancée Jen Haley, a house DJ who will perform at RISE on March 3, Mankes carefully stitches together his sets, which may span tracks encompassing the history of jungle and drum & bass. It’s more complicated than it may sound, with Mankes putting in 12 to 16 hours of advance work for a set that may only last an hour

Leila & Mentally Ill

DNBC, 761 Prod.,M.A.D.E.,Bass Camp Recordings / DNBC, 761 Prod., Massive Audio - Albany, NY

www.djleila.com : www.myspace.com/santola

Leila – who in the past 3 years has accomplished what many dj’s haven’t been able to do in twice that time – is known for a rugged hard and dark style to her sets. It may not look like it, but that’s how she earned the name the “Queen of Mean”! Her ALL VINYL sets definitely force the listener to dance while emphasizing the evil side of DNB.
Newly appointed leader of DNBC (NY), and a member of 761 Productions (CT), M.A.D.E. (MA), Bass Camp Recordings (NYC), & Spread the Word Productions (CT) – her high energy behind the decks and the evil grimy beats that she drops definitely make Leila’s show something you don’t want to miss!

Mentally Ill - WARNING: This dj may cause brain damage. A frontal lobotomy may also be necessary after listening this dj.

Just in from the funny farm, Mentally Ill has prepared to deliver you a mind-altering dnb set. A eight year patient of the tech 1200 program, Mentally Ill has gripped on to reality just long enough to figure out how to converse with turntables everywhere in order to manipulate the vinyl he spins with them. Thats right, VINYL! So strap on your helmets and tighten your straightjackets, the voices have told him it may be a bumpy ride.......or not.....but probably....maybe.....its hard to tell. Judge for yourself. Either way he's definitely committed.....or at least he will be again soon.

MILLI VANILLI DJS!

Many 'microwave' DJs insist that being a DJ is not about the 'traditional' skills, but ONLY about the ability to 'rock the crowd' -- "it is not what you do, or know how to do, but the end product".

The Milli Vanilli analogy confronts this belief, as it infers that there is an ultimate element to reproduction that makes implicit what is portrayed in that reproduction. A DJ receives his acclaim due in part to the implied contextual idioms that are synonymous with being 'a DJ' -- the traditional song manipulation skills.

A ‘Milli Vanilli DJ’ is one that relies heavily on software to 'rock the crowd' without publicly acknowledging that this is the case. But, as it happened to Milli Vanilli:

"In 1990, during a 'live' performance recorded by MTV at the Lake Compounce theme park in Connecticut, the recording of the song "Girl You Know It's True" jammed and began to skip, repeating the line "Girl You Know It's-" over and over, resulting in one of the most embarrassing moments in popular music history." (taken from Wikipedia)

If the Milli Vanilli DJ’s software freezes, or he forgets his USB cable, control vinyl, or laptop this creates a unique problem for that DJ. If the promoter or anyone else (very likely to be another DJ on the card that night) has regular turntable decks and a slew of popular vinyl (vinyl that the software DJ should already be familiar with), this particular software dependent DJ cannot recover and/or perform under these circumstances -- where he/she would at least be expected to.

SO WHATS IN THE FUTURE FOR DJING???

This is CRAZY! Although taking beat matching out of the equation by using software like Tracktor Pro may not be considered “DJing” the cool factor of this set up is undeniable. Emulator is a multitouch MIDI controller software that really harnesses the power of multi-touch. The first version is compatible with Traktor Pro internal mode with future upgrades to include Traktor exteral mode and new layouts for Deckadance, Virtual DJ and Ableton. This one was performed on a multi-touch screen called Töken.

SAD SAD DAY FOR ELECTRONIC DANCE MUSIC LOVERS

This year’s edition of Love Parade, the world’s largest dance music festival, ended in tragedy as 19 people died and hundreds more were injured due to overcrowding at the event’s single entrance and exit.
The trouble began on Saturday evening around 17:00 when organizers decided to stop letting people into the festival site, which was already badly overcrowded. But tens of thousands more revelers had already filled the narrow underpass leading to the gates, and turning them around proved impossible. The situation worsened quickly, especially inside a tunnel near the entrance, which became unbearably hot and short of oxygen.
Kevin Krausgartner, a 21-year-old who was among those bottlenecked in the tunnel, described the scene to Welt Online: “There were 25 people lying in a heap. I screamed – people could no longer get any air. I saw dead people, and one person was sitting there looking extremely pale. I wanted to give him some water, but the ambulance medic told me there was no point as he was already dead.”
According to reports, some of the deaths took place during a stampede inside the tunnel, while others happened in a crush surrounding a steep utility staircase leading out of the mess. Others fell as far as nine meters from a ladder leading to an embankment up above. In total, 16 revelers died at the scene, three more in ambulances and at the hospital.
Meanwhile, the party continued at the disused railway station that served as Love Parade’s central venue. UK-based DJ Mark Knight told the BBC: “We were told just before we were about to play ‘the show has to go on. We cannot stop for fear of the repercussions and more panic.’” According to Knight, about half of the people at the festival seemed aware of the tragedy unfolding outside, while the other half looked oblivious. He described the scene as “very odd” and “surreal.”
So far, blame has been leveled mostly at the event promoters and the city of Duisburg. Many think the venue was poorly chosen: a former coal mining town in Germany’s Ruhr valley region, Duisburg has a population of just 500,000; the attendance at this year’s Love Parade was roughly 1.4 million. Over the weekend, German news magazine Der Spiegel uncovered an official document from the city that said the event was cleared for only 250,000 guests. An official investigation into the matter is currently under way.
“The organizers are to be blamed,” says Dr. Motte, original founder of Love Parade. “It is a scandal to only allow the people a single entrance to the party site… The organizers didn’t have the least amount of concern for the people.” Motte threw the first Love Parade in Berlin in 1989, four months before the wall came down. This year’s event was run by Rainer Schaller, who is also CEO of McFit, a German chain of fitness centers.
Wolfgang Orscheschek, a spokesman for the police trade union, said Schaller and his team had pressured the city into hosting the event, despite concerns among locals and safety officials. In a statement on behalf of the 1,400 police on duty at Love Parade, Orscheschek said the victims had been “sacrificed for material interests.”
On Sunday afternoon, some of those affected set up a memorial by the mouth of the tunnel where many of the deaths occurred. Flowers were laid and candles lit near pictures of the victims, while one cardboard sign grimly displayed the word “Warum?” (“Why?”)
Out of respect for the victims of this year’s event, Schaller has announced that there will be no future editions of the famous dance music festival. “The Love Parade has always been a peaceful party, but it will for ever be overshadowed by the accident,” he said. “It’s all over for the Love Parade.”

DJ KONTROL-THE REMIX JUNKIE WEBSITE

The man behind an arsenal of insane mashups, responsible for contributing to the banging sets spun in clubs around the world is definitly not new to the game. Dj Kontrol whom makes up 1/3 of the the notoriusly known 3 Bad Brothaz is a pioneer and has been around for years. I remember back in the day in my hometown utica in upstate ny, i was looked at as the man behind the hot breakbeat sets in the area. Yeah the good ol' flippin through the crate days. Keep in mind this was like 10+ years ago. I had two hot spots where I bought my breaks records, Satellite Records in NYC and through a good friend Tommy Who in FL. I started coming across these hot florida breaks tracks remixed with hip hop through my buddy Tommy that were just INSANE!! In my area at the time, this was shit that nobody really heard. So I have to say these tracks definitly contributed to my banging sets. So thats where I first jumped on the 3BB boat. SO A BIG THANK YOU TO DJ KONTROL AND THE CREW FOR MAKING A HUGE CONTRIBUTION TO THE BREAKS SCENE YEARS AGO!!! Thats right!!10 years ago Kontrol was putting out the hottness on 12" vinyl and still today putting out hundreds and hundreds of the hottest remixes and segways on a weekly basis. I was on the boat then and still today I remain on board. My favorite Kontrol remix would have to be the (Drop It Low (Dirty South Triple Mash) – Ester Dean feat. Chris Brown)( CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD!! ). My favorite Kontrol segway that the clubgoers go sick everytime I play would have to be the (We Be Steady Mobbin’ (A Milli Segway) – Lil’ Wayne into Young Money ( CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD!! ). CHECK OUT WWW.AGIPRODJ.COM (REAL DJ'S AND REAL SERVICE)

Just stopped by this site, and I must say it feels nice to have a website for dj equipment sold by djs. Nothing worse than asking a salesman about a product that has no clue and beats around the bush the whole time. Well I snooped around through this site for a while and talked hand in hand with Dj Ty and I must say I LIKE WHAT I SEE!! This site is now on the favorites list for sure!! As stated on the site there are 2 main reasons why people keep going back to visit this awsome site.

1.)You feel like you’re connecting with real DJ’s that understand the industry, the gear, and most of all YOUR needs.

2) Your purchase and service experience before and many times after the sale far exceeds that of any other dealer in the country.

I dont know if your familiar with great customer service of the serato team, but this team offers the same hospitality with thier customer service following every purchase. Any questions you have, or you are a new dj and confused and need assistance with one of your purchases, one on one help is offered by the team. Im sorry YOU CAN NOT BEAT THAT!!

MEMORIES OF WINTER MUSIC CONFERENCE "09" JUICY BEACH PARTY AT NIKKI BEACH, MIAMI

Juicy Beach @ Nikki Beach is for sure one of the best parties if not the best party of the Winter Music Conference. Last year, I did it up with my boyz, Tsugi, Luke Krance, Markus, and some other dude, I dunno i forget his name. Anyways, Robbie Killed it as always! Fkin seen Dero for the first time! BLEW MY MIND!!! Tocadisco had a killer set as well. Only thing that sucked, was the end of the night when security kept blocking off the inside to keep people from coming in. Somehow I maneuvered myself in but realized all my crew was outside, so caught a little bit of Robbie's second set and headed back out. Anyways good times with good people and GOOD HOUSE MUSIK ALL NIGHT LONG!!! Heres a clip of the party right here. If you scroll through to about 1:56 and 2:06 you can see my ass fist pumping to Robbie's set. Im the dude with the white fedora on. Anyways cant wait till next March!!!!JUICY BEACH!!!
